Details

Larsonite is also known as Gary Green.
It comes from the Oregon side of the McDermitt Caldera.

It is a jasper that went through 3 pyroclastic cycles; allowing it to melt and recrystallize.
The processes gave it layers that are often mistaken for wood grain.
You will find it listed as "bog wood" but tests show that there are no organic origins.

The slab has several cracks and some pitting, which is common for this material.
A small section at the pointed end of the slab will break loose soon.
The price reflects these faults.

Size is in the photos
We cut slabs at .25 inches and this one is not an exception.

The green Jasper is phenomenal. This specimen is fragile and had a couple peices fracture off but won't be a problem when I glue it to a piece of leather so I can coil around it for a pine needle basket
